Modern competence-oriented approach in the system of Russian education requires rethinking the teaching students methodology. The development of knowledge, skills and abilities should be realized in a complex within the frameworks of the several interrelated disciplines. Subjects of the mathematical cycle within the framework of economic directions of higher education, as a rule, cause difficulties for students. One of the reasons for this may be the low motivation to study due to the fact that the subjects of the professional cycle show little usage of mathematical apparatus. At the same time, modern economic science is oriented on the extensive use of mathematical methods and models. Thus, the urgent task is to develop the motivation of the students of economic faculties to study the disciplines of the mathematical cycle. The use of the mathematical modeling allows carring out deep analysis of the economic systems functioning. The economic-mathematical modeling is used as a rule, generally with the aim of finding the optimal solution of management tasks by this or that economic system. In the process of finding the optimal solution it is necessary for the decision-maker to build and explore a model of the relevant economic system. The given collection is the result of the numerous investigations in this field of teachers and students of the Department of «Informatics and Information Customs Technologies» of the Rostov branch of the Russian customs Academy and the Department of «Economic Security, Accounting and Law» of the Don State Technical University of Rostov-on-Don. The subject matter of the conference includes the study of the following applications of mathematics in Economics: - balance models analyzed by the matrix algebra methods, including Leontiev's model; - production functions, analyzed by the differential calculus methods; - econometric modeling; - tasks of the optimal planning of production, costs, etc.; - dynamic models of economic processes described by differential equations; - mathematical models of financial markets. All articles of the concert are published in the author's edition.
