James Maddison’s life away from football has become every bit as busy as his career on the pitch. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and his partner, Kennedy Alexa, are parents to five young children, including two separate sets of twins.
The family expanded rapidly after Maddison and Alexa welcomed their first child in 2021. Just two years later, twins arrived. Then, in October 2025, the couple welcomed another pair of twins.
That means Maddison is now a father of five, with his children all still very young. The footballer has openly joked about the noise and energy that come with having such a large household.
Meet Leo
Maddison and Alexa became parents for the first time in July 2021 with the birth of their son, Leo Cruz Maddison.
Leo arrived before Maddison’s move to Tottenham and during the midfielder’s successful spell with Leicester City. He has occasionally appeared in family moments shared by his parents, although Maddison and Alexa have generally kept their children away from excessive public attention.
As the eldest of the five siblings, Leo has also experienced the biggest changes in the family as his parents welcomed four more children.
First Twins
On July 2, 2023, Maddison and Alexa welcomed their first set of twins, Delilah and Rome.
The arrival came during an eventful period in Maddison’s football career. Just days later, he completed his move from Leicester City to Tottenham, making the summer particularly memorable for the family.
Delilah and Rome are fraternal twins, meaning they developed from two separate eggs. Their arrival transformed Maddison and Alexa’s household from a family of three into a family of five.
For a professional footballer adjusting to a new club and a demanding Premier League schedule, it was a major change away from the pitch as well.
Another Surprise
The family’s next expansion was even more unexpected.
In June 2025, Maddison and Alexa announced that they were expecting twins again. The news came through a family video filmed at the beach, with Alexa revealing her pregnancy and the couple joking about the chaos that was coming their way.
Having one set of twins is already relatively uncommon. Having two sets of twins in the same family is considerably rarer, which made the announcement a talking point among football fans and followers of the couple.
Jensen and Frankie
The second set of twins, Jensen and Frankie Maddison, were born on October 30, 2025.
Maddison announced their arrival publicly a few days later, sharing their names and birth date. He also celebrated Alexa, describing her as a “superwoman” and joking that the family now had enough children to form a five-a-side football team.
Jensen and Frankie brought the total number of Maddison and Alexa’s children to five.
Their arrival also meant that Maddison was caring for a newborn pair while already raising a four-year-old and another set of two-year-old twins.
Five Under Five
The age gap between the children makes Maddison’s family situation particularly unusual.
When the second twins arrived, all five children were under five years old. Leo was four, Delilah and Rome were two, while Jensen and Frankie were newborns.
Maddison has spoken about the hectic nature of family life, and the “five-a-side team” joke has become a memorable description of his household.
The family structure also means that Maddison and Alexa are simultaneously navigating several different stages of early childhood, from newborn care to raising an older child who is beginning to understand his father’s professional career.
Kennedy Alexa
Maddison shares all five children with Kennedy Alexa, his longtime partner.
The pair began their relationship in 2020 and have built their family away from much of the traditional celebrity spotlight. Alexa is known as a model and social-media personality, while Maddison has become one of the most recognizable English midfielders of his generation.
Although the couple occasionally share family moments, they have generally avoided turning their children into constant fixtures of their social-media feeds.
Their second pregnancy announcement in 2025 was therefore notable because it offered followers a rare glimpse into the family’s life.
Fatherhood
Having five children has also changed Maddison’s perspective away from football.
The midfielder has previously discussed how becoming a father helped him appreciate life differently. His children have provided a source of perspective during difficult periods of his career, particularly when injuries have kept him away from Tottenham matches.
That became especially relevant during his recovery from a serious knee injury.
Football and Family
Maddison’s growing family has coincided with some challenging moments professionally.
He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during Tottenham’s 2025 preseason and faced a lengthy recovery. While he was unable to contribute regularly on the pitch, his responsibilities at home gave him something else to focus on.
With five children in the house, there was certainly little shortage of activity.
The arrival of Jensen and Frankie also came during a period when Maddison was working through the frustration of another significant injury. The new additions provided a welcome source of happiness while his football future temporarily took a back seat.
A Rare Family Story
Two sets of twins make the Maddison family unusual even before considering how quickly the children arrived.
Leo was born in 2021, followed by Delilah and Rome in 2023 and then Jensen and Frankie in 2025. In just over four years, Maddison and Alexa went from having no children to raising five.
The second twin announcement was met with congratulations from fellow footballers and supporters, with Maddison’s five-a-side joke becoming the obvious theme of the celebrations.
James Maddison has five children with Kennedy Alexa: eldest son Leo Cruz, twins Delilah and Rome, and the younger twins Jensen and Frankie.
The family’s story is remarkable not only because Maddison has five children aged four and under, but because two separate sets are twins.
For the Tottenham star, fatherhood has become a major part of life away from football. And while the Premier League midfielder continues working toward his return to the pitch, his biggest team is waiting for him at home: five young children who have turned the Maddison household into a very busy—and very happy—family.
