A 22-year-old Costco employee from Renton, Washington, is facing a second-degree murder charge after prosecutors alleged that he deliberately crashed his car into a coworker riding a motorcycle in Issaquah.
Tyler Martin Sorensen was arrested following the July 31, 2026, collision that killed 20-year-old Jonathon Langdon. Authorities allege the fatal crash followed an angry confrontation involving a female coworker.
Sorensen pleaded not guilty during his August 6 arraignment and remains in King County Jail on $2 million bail.
What Happened?
The deadly incident occurred on the evening of July 31 near Lake Drive in Issaquah.
According to prosecutors, tensions escalated after Sorensen allegedly saw Langdon hug a female Costco coworker, Samantha Peterson, in a parking lot.
Investigators say Sorensen reacted angrily and drove his vehicle toward the pair, nearly striking them. He then allegedly remained in the area for about 10 minutes before Langdon left on his motorcycle.
Prosecutors contend that Sorensen followed him after he departed.
The Fatal Crash
Investigators say surveillance footage captured the moments leading up to the collision.
According to the charging allegations, Sorensen was driving a gray sedan at a high rate of speed when he moved across lanes and struck the rear of Langdon’s motorcycle.
The impact threw Langdon from the motorcycle and into a roadside metal sign. He died from the injuries sustained in the crash.

Police Interview
Sorensen later spoke with investigators about what happened.
During questioning, he reportedly admitted that Langdon had been the intended target. However, he told detectives that he did not intend to kill him.

The alleged jealousy centered on Samantha Peterson, another Costco employee.
Sorensen reportedly told investigators that Peterson had been his former girlfriend. Peterson disputed that account.
According to investigators, Peterson told police that she and Sorensen had never been romantically involved. She reportedly described their connection as a friendship and said Sorensen had crossed personal boundaries.
