Routine Traffic Stop Lands Texas Fugitive Arrested In Florida

A Bartow woman is back in custody after a routine traffic stop on Sunday revealed to local deputies that she was wanted on a felony warrant from Texas.

On Sunday, deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office stopped a red Chevrolet Cruze heading eastbound on 11th Street East. According to authorities, the initial stop was for a minor driving violation.

During the discussion, deputies recognized a passenger in the vehicle as Stacy Renee Barker, 56. According to documents, Barker had an active Texas warrant with full extradition nationally. The warrant describes a parole violation related to an original charge of possession of a controlled substance PG1 (between 1 and 4 grams).

Deputies apprehended Barker on the spot and took her to the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center. According to the agency, the arrest and transportation went smoothly.

According to records, this is not Barker’s first brush with police enforcement, either locally or from another state.

Her prior criminal history includes arrests for severe violence, probation violation, and unlawful dumping. Furthermore, Polk County tracking shows that officers apprehended Barker in 2024 in two separate occurrences, based on fugitive-from-justice warrants filed by the state of Texas.
