Early Life
Mica grew up in a Christian family and developed a connection to music and worship from an early age. Her family eventually became involved with Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach, where she first encountered John-Paul Miller.

The Marriage

Her Death
On April 27, 2024, Mica was found dead at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina.
She had suffered a gunshot wound, and authorities determined that the death was a suicide.
Miller was not physically present at the park, and he has not been charged with causing Mica’s death.
That point remains important because the federal prosecution against him concerns alleged cyberstalking and false statements rather than a homicide accusation.
Mica’s relatives, however, have continued to argue that the alleged abuse and coercive behavior she experienced should be considered when understanding the circumstances leading up to her death.
The Allegations

A federal grand jury indicted Miller in December 2025. Prosecutors allege that he engaged in a prolonged campaign of cyberstalking beginning in November 2022.
The indictment includes allegations that GPS tracking devices were secretly placed on vehicles Mica used. Prosecutors also accuse Miller of repeatedly contacting her and interfering with parts of her personal and financial life.
Another allegation concerns the online distribution of a private nude photograph without Mica’s consent.
Repeated Contact
The alleged pattern of communication is another significant part of the indictment.
Federal prosecutors say Miller contacted Mica more than 50 times in a single day. They also allege that investigators later confronted him about the communications and that his account of the calling pattern differed from records obtained during the investigation.
Prosecutors say Miller also continued conduct that Mica had asked him to stop.

The Investigation
The federal investigation continued after Mica’s death and eventually resulted in criminal charges against Miller.
He has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The Case Now
As of August 2026, Miller remains free on bond while awaiting his federal trial. The proceedings have been postponed several times, with the case now expected to be heard during the October 2026 court term.
If convicted, he could face federal prison time for the charges against him. He remains legally presumed innocent unless and until prosecutors prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.
