Jelai Andres no longer has a husband after finally closing one of the most difficult chapters of her personal life.
The Filipino actress, content creator and social media personality was married to Ex Battalion rapper Jon Gutierrez, better known by his stage name King Badger.
Their relationship once had an enormous online following. Fans even combined their names to create the nickname “JoLai,” following the couple through videos, television appearances and social media updates.
Behind that public image, however, their marriage experienced repeated problems.
Andres and Gutierrez separated, attempted to repair their relationship and eventually split permanently amid allegations of infidelity.
For years afterward, they remained legally married while Andres pursued an annulment.
That changed in July 2026.
After a legal process lasting approximately five years, Andres announced that the annulment had finally been granted.
Who Is Jon?
Jon Gutierrez is a Filipino rapper and entertainer best known as King Badger.
He became widely recognized as a member of the hip-hop collective Ex Battalion, the group behind several viral songs that helped bring its members a huge online audience.
Gutierrez’s fame eventually became closely connected with Andres.
Their relationship generated its own following, particularly as the couple shared portions of their life through online content.
Before the marriage deteriorated, JoLai appeared to many followers to be a successful combination of romance and internet celebrity.
The reality became considerably more complicated.
Dating In 2015
Andres and Gutierrez became an official couple in 2015.
Their relationship was not always smooth, even before marriage.
They went through difficulties but eventually reconciled, with Gutierrez proposing in 2017.
By then, both had established substantial online followings, making their engagement and eventual wedding especially interesting to fans.
The couple moved forward with plans to marry.
Their Wedding
Andres and Gutierrez tied the knot on October 6, 2018.
Their ceremony was held at Fernwood Gardens in Tagaytay.
For followers who had watched their relationship develop online, the wedding seemed like the beginning of a permanent new chapter.
It did not take long before serious problems emerged.
Within months, Andres began sharing cryptic posts that suggested trouble inside the marriage.
By April 2019, their separation was public.
First Separation
Andres alleged that another woman had become involved in her marriage.
Gutierrez publicly acknowledged making a mistake during the marital controversy, while the couple’s problems continued attracting intense attention online.
Although they had separated, their story was not finished.
They remained legally married.
Over time, Andres and Gutierrez began communicating again and appeared together in professional projects and online content.
Their renewed closeness eventually turned into another attempt at the relationship.
Trying Again
The former couple reconciled around 2020.
For Andres, giving the marriage another opportunity reflected her hope that their problems could still be repaired.
They worked together and were once again seen appearing alongside each other.
For a while, JoLai seemed to have survived the turmoil that had followed their wedding.
But the reconciliation did not last.
By 2021, Andres was again publicly alleging that Gutierrez had been unfaithful.
This time, the breakdown became permanent.
Court Battle
Andres took legal action as the marriage collapsed again.
She filed a concubinage complaint against Gutierrez and another woman, turning what had previously played out largely through social media and entertainment coverage into a legal dispute.
At the same time, Andres began pursuing the process that would eventually end her marriage legally.
That process was far from quick.
Unlike divorce proceedings available in many countries, obtaining an annulment in the Philippines can involve a lengthy and expensive court process.
Andres later revealed that her case took approximately five years.
She also said the process cost her around one million Philippine pesos.
Annulment Granted
The breakthrough finally arrived in 2026.
On July 4, Andres publicly revealed through a vlog that her marriage to Gutierrez had officially been annulled.
Instead of simply announcing the result to the camera, she recorded the reactions of people closest to her.
Friends including Zeinab Harake, Donnalyn Bartolome and Buboy Villar were shown learning that the legal process had finally ended.
Some reacted emotionally.
The moment carried significance because they had witnessed what Andres experienced during the years surrounding her failed marriage.
For Andres, the papers represented something much larger than a legal decision.
They represented freedom to move forward.
A New Beginning
Days after announcing the annulment, Andres reflected on the decision publicly.
She described herself as extremely happy and spoke about finally being able to breathe again.
Rather than presenting the annulment as a victory over Gutierrez, she framed it as the conclusion of a painful period in her own life.
She said the experience had taught her important lessons about herself.
During a later television interview, Andres explained that she had reached the point where she no longer felt the anger that once accompanied memories of her marriage.
That emotional change became an important sign of healing.
Forgiving Jon
On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” in July 2026, Andres was asked directly whether she had forgiven her former husband.
She said yes.
Andres explained that she eventually realized she needed to forgive not only Gutierrez but herself.
Her process included spiritual reflection and attending religious seminars.
She said the anger and pain eventually disappeared.
That did not mean Andres suddenly rewrote the history of their relationship.
She remained candid about how difficult the experience had been.
But she no longer wanted those years to determine the rest of her life.
His New Partner
The interview also produced one of Andres’ most widely discussed comments after the annulment.
Boy Abunda mentioned that Gutierrez now had another partner and asked Andres what she would say to the woman.
Andres responded with a mixture of humor and pointed honesty.
She essentially told Gutierrez’s new partner to take care of him, protect him and “keep” him so other people would not experience what she had experienced.
Despite the sharpness of the remark, Andres also expressed positive wishes for her former husband.
She said she still wanted him to become a better person, find peace and succeed.
Is Jelai Dating?
The annulment naturally created another question: Does Jelai Andres have a new boyfriend?
As of her July 2026 interview, the answer was no.
Andres joked that her pets were the ones currently making her heart happy.
More seriously, she explained that she is no longer searching for another person to make her feel complete.
She learned during her years alone that her happiness does not need to come from a romantic partner.
That does not mean she has closed the door on love.
Andres said she would welcome the right relationship if it eventually arrives.
What She Wants
Her experience with marriage has understandably changed what Andres wants from a future partner.
Faith is important to her.
She said she hopes any future boyfriend believes in God and understands the importance of treating women with respect.
She also wants someone who values parents and family.
Most importantly, Andres appears determined not to rush.
After spending years fighting to legally close her previous marriage, finding another husband is hardly the immediate goal.
Life After Jon
For anyone searching “Jelai Andres husband,” Jon Gutierrez is now her former husband.
They started dating in 2015, married in October 2018 and separated for the first time the following year.
A reconciliation gave the relationship another opportunity, but their final split came in 2021.
Five years of legal proceedings followed.
In July 2026, Andres finally announced that their marriage had been annulled.
She is now legally single and, based on her latest public comments, not currently dating anyone.
The JoLai chapter that once dominated her public life is over.
Andres is no longer talking about repairing her marriage. She is talking about forgiveness, peace and the possibility of loving again only if the right person eventually comes along.
For now, she appears perfectly comfortable beginning that new chapter on her own.
